Job summary

Airlite Plastics in Hildebran, NC is seeking a Machine Operator to join our Nonwovens team. You will supervise line employees and operate high-skill equipment to meet safety, quality, and production goals as directed by the Production Scheduler and Shift Supervisor.

Responsibilities include training new line workers, maintaining 5S, ensuring proper PPE, and performing basic maintenance and paperwork promptly.

Qualifications

  • High School/ GED required or preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and policies.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and assign work safely and productively.

  • Set up lines for orders from the scheduler.

  • Perform pre-op and cleanup with lockout procedures.
  • Complete production paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs.

How would you contribute?

This role is a contributing member of our Airlite Nonwovens team, located in Hildebran, North Carolina. As a Machine Operator you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is responsible for supervise line employees, operate machine at high skill level to achieve desired results. To lead and coordinates the operation of the equipment and personnel of the area, with the main purpose of achieving the goals of Safety, Quality and Productivity. Operates the equipment and maintains good settings to produce desired results as set forth by the Production Scheduler and Shift Supervisor. Maintains organization of activities and assigned line employees accordingly to achieve all work scheduled.

  • Maintain 5S of work area.
  • Direct efforts of assigned line employees to achieve a Quality product, which meets customer(s) specifications.
  • Handling of job assignments of the line employees, ensuring that all line employees are working in a safe and productive manner.
  • Training of new line employees.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical process control.
  • Set up of line to run orders given from Production Scheduler.
  • Making sure that all Operators are wearing the required Safety Gear/Equipment, Materials and Supplies for the product to be run and that the Production Equipment is running safely and properly and that the Machine Settings are correct.
  • Manage Pre-Op and Clean-Up daily/weekly ensuring all employees use lockouts on machines that they are cleaning.
  • Working knowledge of assembly and packaging requirements and techniques.
  • Perform the basic preventative maintenance of the equipment being used in the work areas and perform minor maintenance to assigned equipment.
  • Must be able to complete production paperwork required in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to plan the sequence of operations.
  • Must perform duties in a manner to meet production standards and customer(s) quality requirements.
  • Must follow all health and safety requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to perform all jobs assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Stop production when a non-conforming product is detected and make sure that immediate actions are taken.
  • All other appropriate duties as assigned.

Education/Training/License Required:

  • High School/ GED recommended/preferred.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend written instructions and policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to accurately make simple mathematical computations.
