Brief Description: This position is responsible for the setup and operation of thermoplastic extrusion equipment that blends, mixes, packages, and transports dry or liquid materials to produce customer products.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, start, and operate machinery to ensure continuous strands of material, adhering to safety, operating procedures, and ISO standards.
- Weigh ingredients to meet specifications, ensure correct ingredients are delivered, and insert pre-blended materials into machinery.
- Monitor production and equipment for safe and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues.
- Visually or physically examine materials for conformance to standards.
- Transfer samples to the lab for evaluation and follow instructions for batch adjustments if needed.
- Package finished pelletized materials in containers and/or bags.
- Refer issues/problems to Production Lead or Managers.
- Perform all required machine cleaning.
- Complete and maintain system inputs/transactions, ensuring data integrity.
- Document work as required, including logs and reports.
- Participate in training and continual improvement processes.
- Follow safety and work rules; maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Handle materials appropriately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safety practices.
- Operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality.
- Lift up to 60 lbs. regularly and stand for an 8-hour shift.
- Read and follow manuals and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Dependability and excellent attendance.
- Positive attitude.
- Willingness to work overtime, including every other weekend.
- Work in temperature extremes.
- Pass forklift and respirator fit tests.
- Read, write, and speak English.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl regularly.
- Use hands for handling objects and controls.
- Communicate verbally and visually for operation and safety.
- Use safety equipment as required.
- Exposure to moving parts, temperature extremes, dust, fumes, and noise.
