Job summary

Owens Corning Fort Smith Plant is seeking team members to support 12-hour shift operations on a rotating schedule. The Fort Smith crew works on a 2-week rotation with a 3-day weekend every other week and alternates between day and night shifts every 28 days to balance personal plans.

Team members perform production support duties, handle material transfers, inspect quality, and assist with housekeeping. Strong safety awareness and teamwork are essential for success in this manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills as needed for production processes

  • Ability to work in a team and build rapport with coworkers

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties within level on rotation; support production by doffing, inspecting, weighing, labeling, and packing mat production
  • Provide material handling to support production line
  • Salvage products from out-of-spec materials and ensure quality of salvaged products
  • Assist with housekeeping and downtime cleaning activities
  • Cross-train to higher levels as required

Owens Corning Composites Division: Fort Smith Plant

Started Operations in 1985

Fort Smith team works 24/7 creating wet formed fiberglass mat that is used in further manufacturing processes, such as shingles. Our new facility is nearing completion and has increased the size of our team, and another new production line is just starting construction.

Fort Smith crews work 12 hours shift on a 2 week rotation with 3 Day Weekend every other week.

Week 1- 36 Hours: Monday; Thursday; Friday

Additionally, crews rotate between Day & Night Shift every 28 days allowing teams to have the best of both worlds and plan personal activities on Off Days.

Team members perform any duty within level on a rotation basis; including general production support duties as directed by supervisor. Support production by doffing, inspects, weighs, labels, and packs Mat production. Provide material handling to support production line. Salvages products from out of spec materials and ensures external quality of products salvaged. Performs general housekeeping and participates in downtime cleaning activities. Bumps up and cross trains in higher levels as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure personal safety, work in a safe manner, and support team members working safely.
  • Ensure all customer’s expectations are met as related to role
  • Maintain a reliable and predictable processes
  • Ensure all Quality Standards are met
  • Participate in TPM, Total Productive Maintenance, process in plant.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic computer skills
  • Safety and environmental awareness
  • Teamwork and rapport building skills
ENVIRONMENT:
  • Eye and hearing protection are utilized in required areas.
  • The employee is exposed to heights, year around temperatures ranging from fifty to one hundred and ten degrees and moisture.
  • Air-Conditioned Control Rooms are available for operators
  • Exposure to materials associated with fiberglass products such as binder and glass fibers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift/carry/move up to 50 lbs. independently and heavier weights with assistance.
  • Climb stairs, steps, and ladders, as well as work at heights on equipment, platforms, and walkways.
  • Perform bending, squatting, kneeling, leaning, and reaching at both ground level and overhead.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Ability to work rotational 12 hour schedule; Every 28 Days rotate between days/nights.
  • Able to Operate Computers & Computerized equipment for quality, safety and compliance testing and training.
  • Communicate with co-workers face to face, by telephone, and electronic communications.
  • Able to give and understand instructions and hold conversations in manufacturing environment, as well as an office or classroom setting.
  • Possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Vision adequate to manipulate equipment controls, complete paperwork, utilize computers, and have depth perception.
