Overview

Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Machine Operator based in Modesto, CA.

The Operator is responsible for operating a number of plastic blow molding machines (including in-line equipment), making necessary adjustments or minor repairs to ensure the production of containers is safe, efficient, and of high quality. The primary duties include:

1. Understanding, following, and enforcing all safety, health, quality GMP, and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
2. Participating in continuous quality improvement projects and related activities.
3. Operating plastic blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment to produce containers safely and with high quality.
4. Performing mold, insert, and color changes on the line.
5. Processing injection and/or blow molding machines to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
6. Performing tasks of utility positions during slow periods or as needed.
7. Monitoring resin, dryer, material handling, and color systems for proper processing conditions.
8. Conducting quality checks on products regularly.
9. Assisting with mechanical repairs and performing preventative maintenance.
10. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
11. Completing all documentation accurately and timely.
12. Coordinating with the Production Shift Supervisor to support production goals.
13. Verifying material usage standards.
14. Performing troubleshooting and programming on the line, and reporting issues to supervisors.
15. Reducing waste and maximizing regrind and scrap within specifications.
16. Properly identifying regrind and chunk materials.
17. Communicating processing information across shifts and assisting in training new Operators.
18. Limited travel may be required.

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years in manufacturing is required. Essential skills include:

• Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
• Proficiency in computer usage and typing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines positively.
• Ability to work independently and complete assignments effectively.
• Effective communication of facts and information.
• Proactive collaboration and willingness to assist others.
