Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is hiring a Machine Operator I in Florida to set up and operate heavy machinery for cutting, punching, forming and processing parts. You will read blueprints, follow safety rules, and ensure quality while meeting production schedules.

The role requires roughly 1 year of experience, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required, with a pay rate of $18.00–$21.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Assist in continuous improvement and cost-saving ideas.
• Read tapes and follow schedules; work as part of a team.
• May be assigned other projects by Team Leader; overtime as needed.

JOB DETAILS

Base Rate: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment
• Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
• Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
• Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
• Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
• Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area.
• Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
• Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
• Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules
• Team player and keeping safety first
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
• Willing/able to work overtime
