Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Lakeland, FL is hiring a Machine Operator B for the Bedding Department on 1st shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.).

The role involves operating equipment, performing cutting operations, and ensuring safety and quality in daily production. Strong communication and ability to follow instructions are required, with overtime as needed. The successful candidate will contribute to meeting production goals while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment and will be expected to coordinate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to obtain a company forklift license.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and possibly weekends if workflow demands.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Perform cutting operations according to programs, material, and customer specifications.
• Place excess trim material in baler and secure trim material for removal from baler.
• Cross-train to operate other department equipment as needed.
• Follow safety protocol using all required PPE.
• Properly maintain inventory and production documentation.
• Accurate labeling of all packages in Bedding area and stock packages.
• Follow the Carpenter's safe stacking policy and procedures.
• Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality.
• Read and interpret a basic tape measure on a daily basis.
• Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Safe operation of a forklift.
• Perform and record required quality inspections.

Additional responsibilities of the Machine Operator B will include:

Shift hours are currently 6:00a.m. - 2:30p.m. for 1st shift, with mandatory overtime as determined by the workflow.
