Job summary

G.A. Richards Wood Operations is seeking an edging operator to set up and operate a machine that applies edging on our wood products. The role runs a day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with a pay range of $16 to $21 per hour.

You will read job tickets, verify priorities, inspect materials for laminates and defects, and perform routine maintenance forms for equipment. The position focuses on quality control and coordination with other shifts to ensure smooth production.

Responsibilities

• Reads job ticket for product size, checks product, size, color of laminate and quantity.
• Verify or determine which product has priority.
• Examine dates and NCR’s.
• Checks product before running for loose backer and/or laminate
• Examines piece for cracks, chips, and laminate defects
• Must perform and fill out daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual maintenance forms, and report any malfunction to maintenance personnel
• Responsible for minor maintenance, and coordinating projects and procedures with operators on other shifts, such as replacing saw blades, cutter blades, scrapers, and buffers as necessary
• Inspect final product for chipped bands, short bands, high bands, and love bands
