Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. It operates as a flex plant capable of producing a variety of egg products, including whole pasteurized eggs, liquids, dried eggs, hardboiled eggs, and curds.

Responsibilities

Position Summary: Operators are responsible for monitoring egg temperatures, machine speeds, tank levels, and leaks. They ensure machines operate efficiently and maintain accurate documentation and reporting of data.

They must comply with safety work rules at all times and promote safety as a core value. They also ensure adherence to policies related to Food Safety & Quality to minimize product and process variability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality checks on incoming raw eggs and finished products.
  • Conduct hourly checks and monitor product quality.
  • Accurately and promptly complete required documentation.
  • Monitor machine operation, ensuring proper temperature, speed, tank levels, no leaks, and adequate egg levels.
  • Make minor equipment adjustments and troubleshoot issues.
  • Communicate machine or product issues to management or maintenance.
  • Keep packaging materials organized, labeled, and stored properly.
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment following sanitation procedures.
  • Perform die, printer, and Bergmier counter changeovers.
  • Conduct Acetic acid bath temperature, chemical, and Vortexx checks.
  • Check CO2 and O2 levels on product bags.
  • Assist with Fallas operations, including sampling and record-keeping for skids.
  • Program, track, and report out-of-spec data per HACCP requirements.
  • Understand cross-contamination prevention and mitigation, egg grades, Biolonix operation, and Yamato scale system.
  • Provide break coverage for line employees.
  • Coordinate egg flow with operators.
  • Mix brine solutions and coating paint as specified.
  • Follow and perform wax filling procedures.
  • Conduct manual packaging, chemical sanitization checks, belt sprayer checks, hand dip checks, and report issues properly.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Adhere to safety practices, GMPs, and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality and safety. Report unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Take personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace, complying with all safety policies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Must obtain and maintain forklift and pallet jack licenses; experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and operation manuals in English; capable of writing routine reports and speaking effectively before groups.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Mathematical ability to perform operations with numbers, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Problem-solving skills to handle practical issues with limited standardization.
  • Effective communication skills, demonstrating honesty and openness.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships and work effectively with others.
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams, depending on the task.
  • Self-motivated, willing to ask questions, and seek guidance.
  • Responsible behavior and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments, around cleaning solutions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to stand, ascend/descend stairs, bend, and reach during shifts.
