Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. It functions as a flex plant capable of producing a wide range of products from whole pasteurized eggs to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Machine Operator for the Vat Room to ensure quality and efficiency in our production processes. Responsibilities include verifying ingredients, mixing products, collecting samples for testing, maintaining documentation, and running procedures for solids, color, and pH for eggstreme and Tec Whites. You will also calculate and complete batch records, verify mixing procedures, and help keep machines running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration: Assist the dryer operator to maintain proper moisture levels, help with dryer sanitation, and keep all production areas clean.
  • Documentation: Maintain moisture charts, metal detector logs, sifter checks, and SAP tag logs.
  • Troubleshooting: Make minor adjustments and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Sanitation: Ensure cleanliness of warehouse and rack areas.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow USDA loading/unloading procedures, including documentation for cage-free egg tankers. Understand the OvaMay system for flow sequencing and start-up/shut-down operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Tear down, rebuild, and connect various lines and operate pasteurizers, ensuring proper timing and temperature.
  • Safety and SOPs: Follow SOPs, adhere to safety practices, and report any safety or quality concerns.
  • Flexibility: Be available for weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Safety Commitment: Maintain a safe workplace by following safety policies and incorporating safety into all tasks.

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Preferred: Ability to load/unload egg and material trailers, prior manufacturing experience, troubleshoot minor mechanical issues, obtain forklift and pallet jack licenses, basic computer skills, and the ability to interpret safety and operational documents. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work in various environments, and work independently or with others. Must demonstrate good communication, responsibility, adaptability, and safety awareness.
