This hourly role follows the Scotts/Hawthorne step pay progression scale, typically starting at $20.55 per hour, paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne considers various factors in determining the actual pay, including skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

We are looking for a Machine Operator to join our Scotts Miracle-Gro team in Tyler, TX!

The Machine Operator will work at one of Scotts' production plants, mechanically combining raw materials to produce finished products.

The Operator must understand the mixing of active solution vessels, premixes, and all raw material bases for products produced.

What you'll do in this role:

1. Operate a computer-controlled production system for multiple raw material ingredients processed in a mix room.
2. Solve daily operational problems with limited supervision.
3. Maintain good housekeeping standards in your assigned area.
4. Complete daily job checklists and equipment checks/calibrations to ensure quality.
5. Maintain accurate records of raw materials, samples, and equipment operations.
6. Operate a forklift to transport materials.
7. Perform safety audits on equipment.
8. Set up machines at the beginning of shifts to ensure proper working order.
9. Perform testing procedures to ensure machines operate optimally during production.
10. Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift.
11. Feed information such as speed, shapes, and sizes through the machine setup box.
12. Place parts in semi-automated machines.
13. Calibrate machines at the start of each shift and recalibrate at the end.
14. Monitor machines during operations to ensure optimal running.
15. Troubleshoot problems during machine operation.
16. Ensure regular and preventive maintenance procedures are followed.
17. Perform random tests to ensure accuracy.
18. Perform safety checks on every machine.
19. Ensure machines produce quality products by managing periodic output checks.
20. Keep stocks of needed materials ready and available at all times.
21. Maintain activity logs and downtime sheets.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of production plant experience preferred.
• Ability to identify all materials used, be detail-oriented, follow safe practices and procedures, and read English or follow directions.
• Ability to work in dusty environments, hot/cold/rainy weather, lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime, including weekends and holidays.
