Position Summary

This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machining centers, mills, lathes, and router equipment. The Machine Operator produces quality products according to precise specifications within time constraints. At some locations, this role also includes general warehouse duties such as shipping and receiving. The employee will work with moderate supervision.

Essential Functions

1. Sets up and operates production machinery such as CNC saws, lathes, milling machines, drills, shapers, boring mills, and grinders to fabricate and repair parts and products. Works with some guidance from supervision.
2. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and parts lists. Studies and interprets assembly instructions, verifies specifications, and conducts dimensional and visual inspections using standard quality assurance equipment.
3. Responsible for equipment maintenance, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and minor repairs. Communicates issues that may arise.
4. Performs warehouse duties such as filling orders, operating warehouse equipment including forklifts, and managing materials using SAP for receiving and shipping. Prepares documentation like transfer orders, bills of lading, and work orders.
5. Resolves assembly and production issues and communicates errors in the product line or equipment.
6. Participates in continuous improvement activities, maintains a safe and clean workplace, and follows safety policies.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Core competencies include attention to detail, multitasking, a sense of urgency, communication skills, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Qualifications include a machinist certification, a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience), and at least one year of CNC setup and operation experience. Skills required are basic to mid-level reading, writing, arithmetic, PC skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP, blueprint reading, and forklift certification. The role may require occasional travel and compliance with U.S. export laws.
