Position Summary
The Machine Operator / Machinist sets up, maintains, and operates machinery.
Role And Responsibilities
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle.
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed).
- Feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines.
- Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools.
- Test machine operation periodically.
- Fix issues that occur during the shift.
- Check output for machine-related mistakes or flaws.
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
- Maintain activity logs.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management; duties may change at any time.
Skills And Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a skilled trades field preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours a day.
- Overtime opportunities possible.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 35 lbs.
- Pass a drug test and background check.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
- Must be age 18 or older.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred/Desired Skills
- Millwright or Electrician certification.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment following standardized work and safe practices.
- Proficient with shop equipment like mills, lathes, grinders, and welders.
- Ability to work with components in constant motion along an assembly line.
- Teamwork skills for working closely with co-workers.
- Decision-making skills and providing feedback.
- Desire for personal and professional development.
