Job description

Basic Function: The Machine Operator is responsible for producing material batches according to customer and client specifications. Responsibilities include weighing materials, cleaning the mixing area, troubleshooting mixing issues, and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager or Group Leader. This role involves physical labor, including repetitive heavy lifting of chemicals and solvents weighing up to 50 lbs, and frequent stair climbing. Attention to detail is essential. This position is on 2nd or 3rd shift: 2nd shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm (Monday - Friday), 3rd shift from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am (Sunday night - Friday morning). Occasional overtime may be required.

• $2.00 per hour shift premium for 2nd & 3rd shifts after training.
• Incentive Program: Earn more based on production, potentially up to $27.00/hour by the end of Year 1.

Essential Functions:

• Operate a forklift
• Review mixing schedules
• Produce batches in accordance with schedules
• Extract batches from mixers
• Inspect drums before use
• Dump batches from mixers
• Communicate with previous operators regarding irregularities or special instructions
• Follow procedures and batch tickets to produce standard batches
• Produce base in cooker
• Report nonconformities to supervisors
• Maintain proper batch identification
• Complete paperwork accurately and promptly
• Report safety, quality, or maintenance concerns
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Operate processes to maximize quality and output
• Log production and returnable drum information
• Ensure safety equipment is in place
• Use raw materials in FIFO order
• Complete daily production reports
• Assist with unloading drums as needed
• Handle hazardous waste if responsible
• Perform real-time reporting in SAP and be trained in SAP scanning
• Perform visual inspections of drums before filling
• Communicate effectively with team members
• Conduct inspections and tests on drums and batches
• Adhere to Lean procedures throughout production

Skills / Competencies:

• 1-3 years experience in mixing, batching, chemical handling, or machine operation
• Forklift operation proficiency
• Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and training skills

Additional Skills:

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs repeatedly
• Comfortable working in environments with strong odors
• Ability to pass skills and audiogram tests
• Experience in chemical manufacturing
