Role Overview: As a Machine Operator, your primary responsibility is to set up and operate machinery according to Standard Work Instructions (SWI), part print specifications, and work orders. Attention to detail, safety, and vigilance are essential for regular equipment inspections, measuring dimensions, aligning parts, and producing quality parts as per instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Receive work orders and drawings; set up equipment according to machine programs and part specifications.
- Follow instructions from the Team Lead to ensure priorities align with production plans.
- Document daily production and machine performance data to support the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
- Perform daily maintenance on machines and tooling as required.
- Maintain a safe work environment, operate within OSHA guidelines, and utilize PPE and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Conduct first part inspections and make necessary machine adjustments to ensure parts are within tolerance.
- Use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify accuracy and adjust machines as needed.
- Participate in daily shift meetings, review work orders, and plan daily tasks.
- Recommend improvements in drawings, equipment, setup procedures, or tooling to reduce setup time and costs.
- Monitor machines for malfunctions, communicate issues to team leads or maintenance technicians.
- Engage in Kaizen activities to support continuous improvement, reduce waste, and enhance processes.
- Maintain tooling and machines at the operator level to support TPM.
- Organize the workspace following 5S principles to support the SPS Lean Program.
