Job summary

KMT Waterjet, a Shape Technologies Group company, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machines, manual machines, and a wide range of industrial equipment and facility systems. You will read schematics, ladder logic, PLCs, and work with electrical drives to keep operations running smoothly.

The role reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager and requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, plus reliability and a collaborative spirit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years in industrial and machine maintenance focusing on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and repairs in electrical/mechanical domains.
• Electrical or CNC maintenance certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical maintenance on CNC machines and equipment.
• Read schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot circuits.
• Calibrate and adjust CNC controls and electrical equipment.
• Inspect controls and equipment for safe, efficient operation.
• Document maintenance work, repairs, and inspections.
• Complete daily maintenance, support projects, and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with additional maintenance tasks including facility upkeep.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC machines, manual machines, and a wide range of industrial machinery and facility systems. Your expertise in reading schematics, ladder logic, PLC programming, and working with electrical drives will play a critical part in ensuring smooth operations. You will report to the Facility Maintenance Manager and collaborate closely with other departments to maintain seamless operations

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical maintenance and repairs on CNC machines, industrial equipment, and building facilities, including troubleshooting PLCs, drives, and other control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot CNC machine electrical circuits and components.
• Perform calibration and adjustment of CNC machine controls and electrical equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Perform routine inspections on CNC machine controls and equipment to ensure all electrical are running efficiently and safely.
• Maintain documentation of all maintenance work, repairs, and inspections performed.
• Complete daily maintenance tasks, support special projects, and respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues.
• Assist with additional maintenance activities, including mechanical repairs, facility upkeep, and general building maintenance as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

This position may require occasional overtime, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, to respond to equipment failures, facility issues, weather-related events, or maintenance projects. Schedule flexibility may be required to support operational needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude, self-motivation, organization, and reliability, with the ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and mechanical systems, particularly in CNC machines and facility maintenance.
• Proficiency in using dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, gauges, electric multimeters, hand tools, power tools, industrial lifts, welding equipment, and torches.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Broad understanding of plant machinery and equipment setup, including lathes, mills, drills, grinders, pumps, cranes, and other production tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills, quick decision-making abilities, and the ability to work from verbal or written instructions.
• Adherence to all lockout/tagout safety procedures.

Education and/or Training:

• High school diploma or GED
• Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of industrial and machine maintenance with a strong focus on both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Extensive hands-on-experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
• At least (1) year of general facility maintenance preferred.
• Electrical certification, electrical degree, or CNC maintenance certification preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• Ability to stand for 8+ hour shifts.
• Lift/carrying/moving up to 50+ pounds. Push, pull, bend, and twist upper and lower body. Extensive use of hands to grasp and adjust machinery.
• Ability to use industrial aerial lifts and industrial-powered lifts
• Ability to work in high areas or confined areas.
• Work in cold and hot climates
