Job summary

Axis Automation in Walker, MI is hiring a Machine Builder to convert engineering prints, BOMs and project plans into custom automation systems. You will collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to bring each system to life.

Responsibilities include assembling equipment per drawings, reading mechanical prints, troubleshooting assembly issues, and verifying conformance to specifications. Occasional travel to customer sites is required, with safety procedures in mind.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical training valued.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Experience using common hand and power tools.
• Mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with pneumatic systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Positive attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assemble custom automation equipment per drawings.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly and pneumatic prints.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during machine assembly.
• Verify assemblies meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Engage with engineers and project management to resolve build issues.
• Travel to customer sites for installation support (domestic and international).
• Operates all standard shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow LOTO and shop safety procedures.
• Regular lifting of objects 50 lbs or more.
