Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Norcross, GA is seeking a Machine Assistant - Stacker for the 3rd shift (11pm–7am) or 2nd shift (3pm–11pm) with overtime as needed. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour, increasing to $19.80+ once qualified.

You will support the operation of a fast-paced packaging facility and help ensure efficient machine performance. Ideal candidates will be safety-minded, able to read manuals, use a tape measure, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
• Able to read manuals and understand assembly instructions.
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Must wear PPE as required (we provide PPE).
• Ability to stand and walk continuously and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in an environment with hot or cold temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Support operation of a fast-paced packaging facility.
• Assist machine operators with setups and jam-ups.
• Keep the area around the machine clean and safe.
• Ensure tooling for the machine is on hand and assist in setups.
• Support different areas as needed.

MACHINE ASSISTANT - STACKER

Starting Pay: $18.50 once qualified $19.80/hr+

Shift: 3rd shift M-F 11p-7a overtime and weekends as needed or 2nd shift M-F 3p-11p

Work Environment:

Onsite, non-climate-controlled

The Opportunity:

Primary job duties will include but not limited to safely perform a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safe, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery, and have a desire to advance within the company.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.
• Being able to support operators on different machinery while assisting different areas as needed.
• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to: ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam-ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills

What you need to succeed

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
• Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals or assembly manuals
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary PPE.)
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
