Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Norcross, GA is seeking a Machine Assistant – Stacke r to support a fast-paced packaging operation onsite. The role covers 2nd and 3rd shifts with overtime and weekend work as needed.

You will assist machine operators, conduct quality checks, move materials, and keep the workspace clean while learning manufacturing processes and progressing within the company.

Qualifications

• A learning mindset.
• Ability to read/write/speak/understand basic English.
• Ability to read materials to understand and apply content.
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (PPE provided).
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing and grasping.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold).

Responsibilities

• Support the operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
• Assist operators on different machinery and help with setups and jam-ups.
• Ensure tooling for the machine is on hand and the area around the machine is kept clean.
• Support across different areas as needed to keep production moving.
• Contribute to safety and quality by following procedures and maintaining a clean workspace.

MACHINE ASSISTANT – STACKER

Starting Pay: $18.50 once qualified $19.80/hr+

Shift: 2nd & 3rd shift M-F 11p-7a overtime and weekends as needed or 2nd shift M-F 3p-11p

Work Environment

Onsite, non-climate-controlled

Primary job duties will include but are not limited to safely performing a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery, and have a desire to advance within the company.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.

• Being able to support operators on different machinery while assisting different areas as needed.

• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam-ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills
