Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in the United States is seeking a Machine Assistant - Stacker to support a fast-paced packaging line on 2nd & 3rd shifts. You will assist machine operators, perform quality checks, set up materials, and maintain a clean, organized workspace onsite.

The ideal candidate embraces safety, learns quickly, and can read manuals and use measurement tools. You must lift up to 50 lbs and work in variable temperatures. Onsite opportunities available with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Learning mindset with a willingness to learn manufacturing processes.

• Ability to read manuals and apply procedures safely.
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic arithmetic.
• Must wear PPE and safety gear as required.

Responsibilities

• Safely support a fast-paced packaging facility.
• Assist machine operators with setups and jam-ups.
• Conduct quality checks and maintain a clean workspace.
• Set up materials and ensure tooling is on hand for the machine.
• Support different areas as needed and keep the area free of debris.
• Help maintain safety and operational standards on site.

MACHINE ASSISTANT - STACKER

Shift:2 nd & 3 rd shift M-F 11p-7a overtime and weekends as needed or 2nd shift M-F 3p-11p

Onsite, non-climate-controlled

Primary job duties will include but are not limited to safely performing a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery, and have a desire to advance within the company.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.
• Being able to support operators on different machinery while assisting different areas as needed.
• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam-ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills

What you need to succeed

• Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals or assembly manuals
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary PPE.)
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
