Overview

Graham Packaging is seeking an entry-level assembly technician for our Machinery Group at our Technical Center in York, PA. The role involves assembling rotary blow-mold machinery and providing mechanical support to production facilities. Up to 50% travel (including international) is expected for machinery commissioning, debugging, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Area Leads to complete assembly and build phases according to production schedules.
  2. Read and interpret engineering drawings to build machinery per company standards.
  3. Follow all safety regulations diligently.
  4. Organize and maintain incoming equipment and parts to ensure smooth assembly flow.
  5. Maintain workshop cleanliness and stock components and materials.
  6. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
  7. Test, repair, or replace faulty machine parts.
  8. Disassemble outdated machines and salvage usable parts.
  9. Handle large components through rigging.
  10. Conduct quality inspections on components and assembled units.
  11. Assist in painting and finishing machine parts.
  12. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  13. Participate in internal design reviews and provide technical feedback.
  14. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.
  15. Travel as needed for machinery commissioning and troubleshooting.
  16. Support other departments within the Technical Center.
  17. Attend mandatory corporate training sessions.

Qualifications

  1. Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  2. Ability to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and cranes.
  3. Capability to read technical documents and blueprints effectively.
  4. Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  5. Assist electrical engineers with electrical panel installation and wiring.
  6. Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  7. Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical systems.
  8. Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and Adobe; CAD experience is a plus.
  10. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems is advantageous.
  11. Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is beneficial.

Education and Experience

  • Technical School diploma or equivalent with experience in machinery assembly/maintenance.
  • Experience with manual machining (mill/lathe) and fabrication equipment (bandsaws, grinding, MIG welding).
