Job summary

Hearst Technology Services is seeking a senior-level M365 Governance Engineer to own the governance framework across Exchange Online and Teams, while partnering with the Enterprise Apps team on SharePoint and OneDrive.

This role focuses on developing and enforcing lifecycle management, retention, data protection, and access controls to keep our messaging and collaboration environment secure and scalable as it grows.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Microsoft 365 governance, compliance, or admin roles.
• Hands-on Exchange Online and/or Teams governance experience.
• Proficient in PowerShell for governance automation.
• Familiar with GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001 in messaging contexts.
• Strong documentation and policy-enforcement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain governance policies for Exchange Online and Teams.
• Configure retention, DLP, and sensitivity labels across mail and Teams.
• Own external sharing and guest access governance within Teams.
• Build dashboards and reports to track compliance posture and license usage.
• Develop automation to streamline governance tasks and runbooks.
• Support audits and regulatory requirements related to messaging data.
