Job description

M&A Integration Project Manager - Interim / Part-Time Contract

Commitment: Approximately 2-3 days per week, up to 10 days per month

Duration: 6 months initially

Location/working arrangements: Remote

We are seeking an experienced M&A Integration Project Manager to support the integration of recently acquired businesses into a wider organisation.

This is a hands-on interim role, working across both the acquiring organisation and the acquired businesses to establish integration priorities, coordinate delivery and ensure a smooth transition into the agreed operating model.

The successful candidate will combine practical project management with strong stakeholder engagement, bringing structure and momentum to integration activity while remaining sensitive to the people, processes and cultures of each business.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an integrated project plan covering milestones, dependencies, resources and ownership across the businesses.
  • Work with leadership teams on both sides to agree integration scope, priorities, responsibilities and success measures.
  • Coordinate integration workstreams across relevant functions, including operations, technology, finance, HR and commercial teams.
  • Assess existing processes, systems and ways of working to identify integration requirements, gaps and opportunities for alignment.
  • Establish proportionate governance, progress reporting and clear routes for decision-making and escalation.
  • Manage risks, issues and cross-business dependencies, driving actions through to resolution.
  • Support business change, communications and the adoption of new processes and working practices.
  • Protect business continuity throughout the transition and coordinate any phased implementation or cutover activity.
  • Track delivery against agreed integration objectives and benefits.
  • Ensure a clear handover into business-as-usual ownership.
Key skills and experience
  • Strong project management experience spanning business change, operational processes and technology.
  • Experience working with both acquiring organisations and acquired businesses, balancing different priorities and expectations.
  • Confident engaging senior stakeholders, facilitating workshops and securing decisions.
  • Ability to turn broad integration objectives into practical plans with clear accountability.
  • Strong risk, dependency, governance and change management skills.
  • A pragmatic, collaborative approach, with the ability to operate independently and maintain momentum within a part-time engagement.
  • Experience coordinating multiple acquisitions or integration workstreams would be advantageous.
Engagement

This opportunity would suit an experienced interim or independent consultant available for approximately 2-3 days per week, up to 10 days per month, with the allocation of days agreed around project priorities.
