Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the San Diego Job Corps Center in Imperial Beach, CA. The part-time LVN will contribute to student health by providing nursing care, triage, and health program support.

Responsibilities include wound care, medication administration, and coordination with physicians. Eligible applicants must hold a valid LVN license in California and may have one year of nursing experience; a valid driver license is required.

Qualifications

• Valid LVN in the state of employment with IV/Blood draw certification.
• One year of practical nursing experience preferred.
• Valid driver license required.

• Render first aid treatment and assist physician in treating serious injuries or illnesses.
• Cleanses and dresses wounds, operates emergency equipment and provides follow-up nursing care.
• Prepare and administer medications and assist in disease/accident prevention programs.
• Perform routine lab tests per approved standards.
• Monitor students in infirmary and coordinate health programs as needed.
• Triage, assess chief complaints, record vital signs and assist with chart reviews.

What you will be doing:

You'll be responsible for treating and preventing minor injuries and illnesses. They will provide information and guidance for the promotion of good health and well-being of our students.

Essential Functions

• Render first aid treatment and assist physician in treating serious accidents or illnesses.
• Cleanse and dress wounds, operate emergency equipment and provide follow-up nursing care as required.
• Prepare and administer specified medications and drugs and assist in developing programs to prevent or control diseases and accidents.
• Perform routine lab tests in accordance with approved standards.
• Monitor students restricted to the infirmary.
• Assist in the management and coordination of pregnancy, weight control, tuberculosis, smoking cessation and other programs as designated.
• Triage, assess chief complaints, take vital signs, do appropriate charting and assist with chart review duties and with patient care.
• Assist physician or mid-level health care provider when needed.
• Maintain clinic facilities in accordance with the highest standards of health care.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Valid licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in the state of employment and IV/Blood draw certification.
• One (1) year of practical nursing experience preferred.
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
