Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s WellMed network in San Antonio, TX seeks an LVN/LPN to provide clinical support under provider supervision. You will perform nursing duties, assist with exams, manage medications, and coordinate care with doctors and nurses in a fast-paced clinic.

You will document assessments, maintain patient confidentiality, and contribute to education plans for patients. A current LVN/LPN license and BLS are required, with IV certification if needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current and unrestricted LVN/LPN license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures
  • Proficient computer skills to work with electronic medical records
  • IV certification must be obtained if required by the clinic

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing duties within the LVN/LPN scope (injections, medication administration, EKGs, phlebotomy) as per state nursing board.
  • Participates in education plans for patients and families with common health problems.
  • Coordinates patient care as directed by providers and policies, including referrals and follow-up.
  • Documents patient assessment and care in the medical record accurately and timely.
  • Gathers data, assesses patient response to treatment, and communicates findings to the provider.
  • Maintains safe environment and ensures patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Organizes exam/treatment rooms, stocks and sterilizes instruments, follows OSHA standards.
  • Records medications & immunizations in patient records and follows CLIA lab policies.
