Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse III for Terrell State Hospital to provide nursing care in psychiatric settings. The role requires an active TX LVN license and offers regular evening and weekend shifts with potential additional assignments.

You will administer medications, monitor patients, document in electronic health records, and mentor other LVNs while collaborating across disciplines to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited LVN program.
• Licensed LVN in Texas or via Nurse Licensure Compact reciprocity.
• Minimum twelve months LVN experience; eighteen months preferred.
• Experience with mental health services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and follows shift schedules including evenings and weekends.
• Administers medications and treatments; conducts rounds as needed.
• Performs complex nursing procedures per facility/state regulations.
• Monitors weight, diet, vital signs and health status; observes treatment responses.
• Documents treatments and observations in medical records; communicates with RN/Providers.
• Trains and oversees LVN staff; supports orientation and ongoing guidance.
