Enloe Health is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join the Emergency Department team. You will provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, contributing to the education and emotional support of patients and families in a fast-paced ED setting.

The role requires California LVN licensure, CPR, IV/blood withdrawal certification, ACLS, and PALS within 6 months of hire. Night shifts (1800-0630), 12-hour shifts, with a varied days-off schedule.

Position Summary

The Licensed Vocational Nurse, in the Emergency Department, is a licensed professional who provides patient care to Emergency Department patients under the supervision of the licensed Registered Nurse. The LVN contributes their service to the education and physical and emotional care of the patient and family in accordance with the philosophy and standards of the medical plan of care.

Minimum

• Six months experience in an acute care setting or one year experience in a non-acute care setting.

Desired

• Previous Emergency Department experience as an LVN, ED tech, EMT, or aide

Minimum: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

• Current licensure with the California Board of Vocational Nursing
• Current CPR certification
• Current IV/Blood withdrawal Certification for State of California
• ACLS Certification (within 6 months of hire)
• PALS Certification (within 6 months of hire)
• Basic arrhythmia or equivalent (within 6 months of hire) (dept tracks)

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Will utilize clerical and computer skills for a variety of support functions. Furthers education and clinical skills by attending classes and workshops. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Behavior should be reflective of Enloe Medical Center core values. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
