Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking an LVN/LPT for the High Desert Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center in Lancaster, CA. The role covers on-call overnight hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a focus on rapid mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and medication support.

The LVN/LPT will provide direct client care, document patient status, and ensure safety within a 24/7 walk-in outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Active CA LVN or LPT license required.
• Minimum 1 year of mental health inpatient care experience.
• Minimum 1 year of medication administration experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including medications while maintaining a safe milieu.
• Observe and document patient status and report to RN/physician on shift.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications per physician orders and verify pharmacy deliveries.

What you bring to SBHG (qualifications)

• Licensure: Valid, active California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license.
• Education: Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or psychiatric technology; an associate degree is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing treatment to individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in medication administration.
• Driving Requirement: Valid California Driver's License is preferred.

How you will make a difference (job overview)

The LVN/LPT provides direct client care including medications. Maintains vigilance over the general milieu within the facility to facilitate quality client care, optimum facility operations and preserve the safety of all therein. Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition of patients to the Registered Nurse in charge of the facility on the shift and the attending physician. Orders, prepares, administers and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physician’s orders. Confirms delivery of all ordered medication(s) from pharmacy on shift worked. Responsible for writing summary on clients as assigned. Makes written or oral shift assignments and plans, organizes and directs the nursing activities of the unit (when needed and assigned) to assure quality care delivery.

Division & Program Overview

• Facility & Setting: 24/7 walk-in outpatient urgent care
• Clinical Services: Rapid mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and medication support
• Length of Stay: Short-term stabilization (up to 24 hours)
• Population Served: Serves up to 12 adults (18 +) and 6 adolescents (ages 13-17)
