Job summary

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa is seeking a Youth Attendant to provide safe, engaging care for children of members in a premium hospitality setting.

The role involves supervising activities, assisting with setup for events, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and communicating milestones to parents. Energy, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is strongly preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Some previous work experience in childcare is strongly preferred.
• Able to learn to and teach safety protocols for children and adults making use of the Bouldering Wall.
• Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, while maintaining a positive and calming presence with children.
• Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English.
• Must be able to learn to use the Youth Department computer system to look up member information, post charges, etc.
• Must be available to work varied shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Direct positive, appropriate interactions with children while in our care.
• Adhere to parental restrictions for each child under supervision.
• Supervise and monitor the safety of children.
• Follow guidelines for mealtimes and snacks.
• Help children with hygiene and diaper changes as needed.
• Offer a variety of activities to provide physical activity, playtime, and rest.
• Keep records of children's interests and milestones to share with parents.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of play areas, furniture, and equipment.
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and event activities for children’s parties and Youth Department events.
• Ensure safety equipment (e.g., for the Bouldering Wall) is in good working order.
