Job summary

COREcruitment Ltd represents a luxury resort in Big Sur, California, seeking a Director of Rooms to lead the rooms division and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

The candidate will oversee Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Bell Services and Concierge, guiding department heads and operations with a focus on service excellence, financial discipline and strategic improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Director of Rooms or equivalent senior hotel leadership role.
• Luxury hotel, resort or boutique property background.
• Knowledge of Front Office, Housekeeping and guest services operations.
• Strong financial management: budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Rooms Division operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Bell Services and Concierge.
• Lead and develop department heads and operational teams, fostering service excellence and accountability.
• Ensure exceptional guest experiences through personalised service and proactive issue resolution.
• Monitor departmental budgets, payroll, labour productivity and operating expenses.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, room readiness and property appearance.
• Collaborate with Revenue Management and senior leadership to support occupancy and room revenue objectives.
• Analyse guest feedback and performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Establish and maintain SOPs, service expectations and quality assurance processes.
• Oversee staffing, recruitment, training and performance management.
• Partner with other departments to ensure seamless coordination across the guest journey.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and brand standards.
• Contribute to strategic planning as part of the resort leadership team.
