Job summary

Braswell & Son in Little Rock seeks a fine jewelry sales associate to test precious metals, grade gemstones, verify authenticity of luxury watches, and price items. You will greet customers, describe items, and enter details in our POS system, building relationships that encourage repeat business.

Formal gemology training and hands-on testing experience are highly valued, as is the ability to calculate melt value from spot prices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of fine jewelry sales experience.
• Formal training in gemology or jewelry.
• Hands-on experience testing gold and grading stones.
• Ability to calculate melt value from spot price.
• Comfort with computers, POS systems, and testing tools.
• At least 18 years old and able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Test gold, silver, and platinum using approved methods.
• Grade diamonds and gemstones for cut, color, clarity, and carat.
• Tell natural diamonds from lab-grown stones and simulants.
• Figure melt value using spot price, karat, and weight.
• Price items using company guidelines and market data.
• Greet customers quickly and listen before assisting.
• Show merchandise and describe condition and value honestly.
• Ask for the sale and build relationships that bring customers back.
• Inspect luxury watches and check authenticity.
• Enter full item details in the POS system.
• Price jewelry and provide direction for stores company-wide.
• Speak up if an item seems stolen or suspicious.
• Share knowledge and help train coworkers.
