Job summary

The Vanderbilt Hotel LLC in Newport, RI, is seeking an Engineer to join the property’s engineering team. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical motors, HVAC systems, plumbing, carpentry, and related equipment, while ensuring safety and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include maintaining building systems, responding to emergencies, and documenting work in the logbook. Prior hotel engineering experience and strong English communication are preferred; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a technician or engineer in a hotel or property management is preferred.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions on assembly of equipment.
• Must be able to communicate in English with guests and staff.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical motors and devices in the hotel.
• Maintain HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Respond to guest requests promptly and handle emergencies safely.
• Log essential information in the engineering logbook and follow safety procedures.
• Support sustainability initiatives under Planet Auberge program.
