Job summary

The Chanler at Cliff Walk is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Technician to oversee daily upkeep of a luxury Newport property. The role covers guest rooms, public areas, and building systems with a hands‑on approach to repairs and preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, detail oriented, and able to resolve issues quickly while maintaining a professional, guest‑centered presence across the property.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, engineering, facilities, hotel, apartment, or building maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, punctual and willing to take ownership of responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house areas, and exterior areas to identify maintenance needs.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments.
• Perform repairs and maintenance involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, appliances, fixtures, doors, locks, and general building systems as needed.
• Complete preventative maintenance on guest rooms, equipment, mechanical systems, and building infrastructure.
• Monitor and maintain heating, cooling, hot water, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment and building‑system problems and determine when outside contractors or specialized technicians are required.
• Maintain guest rooms and public spaces to the highest standards of appearance and functionality.
• Assist with preparation of guest rooms between stays when maintenance or repair work is required.
