Job summary

The Joseph is seeking a Maintenance Engineering Technician to ensure the luxury hotel's mechanical systems and guest areas operate flawlessly. You will engage in preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety procedures across guestrooms and public spaces, maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel maintenance or related technical experience required.
• Experience in a luxury, full-service environment is a plus.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with painting, drywall, carpentry, plumbing repairs, and general building maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• HVAC, EPA, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing certifications are desirable.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and work-order systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a luxury property.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize urgent needs while completing preventive maintenance.
• Professional communication with guests and team members.
• Hospitality mindset and understanding that technical position contributes to guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs throughout guestrooms, public areas, restaurants, meeting spaces, offices, and back-of-house areas.
• Respond promptly to guestroom maintenance requests and service calls.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical, and building systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues and determine corrective actions.
• Complete drywall repair, painting, caulking, and other cosmetic repairs.
• Inspect spaces for maintenance concerns and correct deficiencies.
• Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruption.
• Maintain accurate documentation of preventive maintenance and work orders.
• Support life-safety inspections as directed.
• Ensure safety procedures and proper PPE.
• Assist with inspections and life-safety procedures as directed by Engineering leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Maintain The Joseph’s standards of excellence.
