Job summary

The Ocean House Collection, Rhode Island’s luxury hospitality flagship, seeks a Director of Catering & Events to lead all catering and events operations. You will partner with Sales to drive profitable, high-quality events, including conferences, meetings, and weddings, while maximizing revenue through upselling and space utilization.

Based at three properties, this role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and exceptional client service to uphold our Forbes Five-Star standard.

Qualifications

• Leadership and team development experience in luxury hospitality.
• Ability to manage multiple priority events and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent English communication, both written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail, problem solving, and follow-through.
• Knowledge of catering, conference services, banquet operations, and luxury service standards.
• Ability to negotiate, prepare proposals, review contracts, and upsell services.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, schedule, and develop Catering and Events team, including hiring and training.
• Oversee groups, weddings, meetings, and events from pre-planning to post-event follow-up.
• Develop departmental goals, procedures, and service standards aligned with company objectives.
• Communicate event information clearly to hotel departments; promote teamwork through regular meetings.
• Represent the company professionally with stakeholders and maintain a service-focused culture.
• Address guest and client concerns about in-house events and communicate resolutions.
