Job summary

UPMC Southwestern PA invites applicants for a Lung Transplant Fellowship opportunity in Pennsylvania. The position supports advanced training across two high-volume services, with graded responsibility toward independence under division co-chiefs, and includes teaching junior cardiothoracic fellows and residents with bedside instruction and didactics.

The fellow will play a key role in day-to-day inpatient management, multidisciplinary coordination, organ offers and planning, and participation

Qualifications

• Fellowship in heart and/or lung transplantation preferred.
• Experience in teaching junior trainees and residents is a plus.
• Commitment to high-quality patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre-, intra-, and postoperative care, ICU rounding and discharge planning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
• Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant procedures.
• Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
• Participate in call as assigned.
