Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District is seeking a Student Support - Classified/Instructional Assistant to supervise students during lunch periods and help maintain a safe, orderly cafeteria and playground environment.

The position requires a high school diploma, ability to supervise varied groups, and good communication. Hours are 11:00 am–1:00 pm, 10 hours weekly, with pay per district salary schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to monitor and supervise small and large groups of students in a positive manner.
• Ability to follow directions and school procedures from Principal and designated staff.
• Effective communicator and work cooperatively with others.
• Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations and rules.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Prefer First Aid and/or CPR certification.
• Must pass a background clearance.
• Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students and assist in the cafeteria during lunch and/or recess.
• Accept responsibility for students wellbeing and safety, as the fundamental value in decision making, while they are in employee's care.
• Provide excellent customer service skills to students, employees and community.
• Demonstrate the ability to work with children in a patient, friendly, and enthusiastic manner.
• Demonstrate interest in the nutrition and enthusiasm for school lunch menu items.
• Encourage and support healthy eating during lunch through interaction with students.
• Regulate and assist student traffic in an efficient, orderly manner.
• Prevent and subdue disorderly behavior, refer discipline problems to the administrator.
• Oversee that children clear tables and dispose of trash in proper receptacles.
• Wipe and sanitize all tables before, during and after each lunch period. Assist in cleaning the floor.
• Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
