Job summary

Beverly Public Schools is seeking a Lunch Monitor to support safe, orderly lunchroom and recess operations. You will supervise students, enforce procedures, and help maintain a positive environment during meals and play.

The role requires dependable attendance, ability to communicate clearly, and adherence to district policies. Employment is contingent on background checks and compliance with state requirements.

Qualifications

• Supervise students during lunch and recess to ensure safety and order.
• Maintain a calm, orderly lunchroom environment and assist with transitions to activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all students follow established lunchtime and recess procedures.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the lunchroom following lunch meal time.
• Inform the building principal of lunchroom issues.
• Maintain a safe and positive lunchroom and playground/classroom atmosphere.
• Monitor and maintain the necessary lunchroom and recess supplies.
• Dismiss and monitor students from the lunchroom.
• Correct/redirect inappropriate/unsafe behavior.
• Refer significant concerns to the building principal.
• Document incidents of inappropriate behavior resulting in injury.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Compensation

• Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Public Schools AFSCME Lunch Monitors collective bargaining agreement.

Employment Eligibility

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law.
• In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
