Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Stress Analyst to apply physics-based methods to solve static and dynamic structural problems for lunar cargo delivery systems. You will interpret test data, develop validated FE models, and support loads and trade studies under cost and schedule constraints.

Join a growing team in the Lunar Permanence unit, contributing to safe human spaceflight and the development of reusable space vehicles. A BA/BS in engineering and hands-on FE experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in prediction/validation of low and/or high frequency structural dynamics and loads, plus finite element modeling.
• Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals.
• Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validation.
• Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods.

Responsibilities

• Solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based methods (hand calcs, in-house tools, 3rd party tools).
• Measure and interpret acceleration, shock, and vibration data from tests.
• Model, simulate, and verify launch, in-space burns, and landing events.
• Develop and validate Finite Element Models and correlate to tests.
• Develop general loads for spacecraft and ground systems.
• Support configuration development and trade studies.
• Proficiency in Femap, NASTRAN, and Matlab.
• Reason about rigid and flexible body dynamics.
