Job summary

Buchheit, Inc. in Jackson, MO is seeking a part-time Yard Loader to support our Lumber Yard operations. You will sort and rack lumber, operate a forklift or industrial truck, and assist with loading and unloading deliveries for customers.

The role requires a strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and good communication with customers and team members. This position is onsite at the Jackson store.

Qualifications

• Reads and comprehends simple verbal or written instructions.
• Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving skills on the job.
• Ability to communicate with customers, management and co-workers.
• Works effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Forklift experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions and direct customers to lumber and materials.
• Load merchandise onto delivery trucks for delivery or transfer.
• Assist with unloading deliveries as necessary.
• Move and rack lumber by grade and length.
• Read work orders or follow instructions to determine items to move or load.
• Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise.
• Maintain tidy yard and racks.
• Operate forklift or industrial truck to move materials.
• Perform daily forklift inspections.
• Adhere to loss prevention, inventory control and safety procedures.
• Communicate customer issues to internal staff.
• Additional duties as assigned.
