Ace Hardware Corporation in Corbin, Kentucky is seeking a Lumber Yard Associate to uphold our core values and deliver friendly, prompt service to every customer. You will unload trucks, stock outdoor areas, and assist customers with loading purchases while working with a team to meet daily goals.

Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required; forklift experience is preferred, and strong communication with customers and teammates is essential.

• Experience stocking in a warehouse or lumber yard preferred.
• Forklift operation and/or commercial truck driving preferred.

Responsabilités

• Unload incoming trucks and stock lumber yard and outside areas.
• Assist customers by loading purchases and ensuring correct items are provided.
• Support daily operations and meet priorities with a sense of urgency.
• Participate in daily huddles and share improvement ideas with management.
• Provide excellent customer service to prevent shoplifting and enhance the customer experience.
• Greet customers within five feet and maintain friendly, helpful interactions.
• Assist in training peers and communicate effectively with team.

Position Summary

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with W.D. Bryant Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. Lumber yard associates are responsible for engaging the customer, ensuring they receive everything they purchased promptly and professionally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Help unload incoming trucks, stock outside products in Lumber Yard and outbuildings, and bring store merchandise to the store.
• Load customer purchases in their vehicle using their Loading Ticket to make sure they receive exactly what they paid for, nothing more or less.
• Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management displaying a “Speed is Life” attitude. Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to the details.
• Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, and share ideas for improvement with management.
• Watch for shoplifters and act, in line with company policy, that will discourage shoplifting. Excellent customer service and interaction prevents shoplifting.
• Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
• Actively participate in in-store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests, etc.)
• Assist Customers with simple complaints/concerns; get a manager involved with problems as needed.
• Use the Five Foot Rule – always greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet of you.
• Always be polite and attentive to customers. Make eye contact and smile. Do not avoid customers.
• Always wear your radio to effectively communicate with other associates or management.
• Assist in the training and development of peers.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in stocking in a warehouse or lumber yard setting is strongly preferred.
• Experience in forklift operation and/or commercial truck driving is preferred.
• Able to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
• Skilled at providing prompt, friendly, and attentive customer service.
• Strong organizational skills with a passion for details
• Proven track record of being a team player.
• A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
• Availability must be flexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for an extended period, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
• Move and handle merchandise of 80+ pounds for continuous periods of time
