Job summary

Gillman Home Center is seeking a Lumber Counter Sales Specialist to assist customers and contractors with project needs. This full-time role (40 hours/week) requires open availability Monday through Sunday, with store hours from 7am to 8pm. You will help customers, process quotes and orders, and support deliveries and installations.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in building materials, strong customer service experience, and a willingness to learn product lines. Retail experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related experience or training accepted.
• 3+ years in the building materials/construction industry preferred.
• 1+ years of customer service experience required; retail experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers and contractors with project needs and product selection.
• Provide excellent service and maintain courtesy and respect with all customers and team members.
• Greet customers and resolve inquiries, advise on solutions, and upsell when appropriate.
• Educate yourself on product lines and industry trends; stay informed of changes.
• Create accurate quotes, take-offs, purchase orders, and invoices using store software.
• Process orders, scheduling deliveries, and follow up from quote to project completion.
• Ensure orders are correctly invoiced and manage returns with follow-up for credits.
• Maintain store area cleanliness and organize the lumber desk area.
• Open/close store as assigned and uphold safety and company policies.
