Job summary

Mid-City Lumber, Ltd. in Mid-Missouri is seeking a Counter Sales Representative to be the front line of our lumber yard.

You will help contractors and DIYers select the right wood species, grades, and quantities for decks, framing, and finishing projects. You will quote prices using current market data, manage POS and will-call tickets with Spruce, Epicor, or BizTrack, and coordinate with yard staff to pull and load orders safely.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wood species, grades, and dimensions (nominal vs actual).
• Ability to calculate square footage, linear footage, and waste factors for estimates.
• Strong customer service mindset and resilience during peak periods.
• Familiarity with decking, siding, and insulation materials is a plus.
• Ability to multitask between in-person and phone inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers to determine project needs and suggest correct materials and accessories.
• Process sales, quotes, and will-call tickets using industry software.
• Compute board footage and provide pricing based on current lumber markets.
• Coordinate with yard staff to pull and load orders safely for customers.
• Maintain a stocked, labeled, and clean showroom, especially high-turnover items.
