Summary

The Lubrication Lab Technician performs lubrication and material testing and screening analysis of lubrication and plant materials for the purpose of condition monitoring and material dedication. Lubricant testing works in concert with our overall preventative maintenance strategy to renew and monitor plant equipment. Implements necessary testing which allows the organization to minimize operational risk and maximize reliability by understanding lubricant chemistry and machinery wear.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in lab or maintenance craft positions, of which one (1) year must be related technical training

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • 2yrs+ experience with lubricant testing techniques, practices, and/or testing instruments
  • Lubrication Technical Certification
  • A.S. Chemistry or B.S. for Sr Lube Tech
  • SWMS experience
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Valid Driver’s license

Nuclear Requirements
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.

Major Accountabilities
  • Performs testing of lubricants and other plant material ensuring compliance with Palo Verde procedures and technical specifications.
  • Documents results in the qualified database and communicates results to Engineering or via inspection reports as appropriate.
  • Monitors, reviews and screens test results for trends, abnormalities and conformance to documented specifications.
  • Participates in and implements the lubrication testing program to ensure that valid analytical results are obtained and documented.
  • Manages dry waste, waste oil, mixed waste, in accordance with station procedures by coordinating removal with the appropriate work groups.
  • Operates and maintains analytical instrumentation.
  • Tracks and coordinates calibration of lab instrumentation and provides repair or technical guidance for the repair of lab instrumentation.
  • Participates in training programs, seminars and successfully completes documented training program requirements.
