Job summary

IB Abel is seeking a Lube Technician for our Fleet Department to perform preventive maintenance on company trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliant operation. The role includes scheduled PM services, inspections, identifying repair needs, and communicating findings to the service team.

You will maintain accurate maintenance records and support mechanics as workload requires; second shift 3:00pm–11:00pm; HS diploma and 2 years of heavy equipment/truck

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2 years of experience with heavy equipment and heavy-duty trucks is preferred.
• Ability to type and perform basic data entry.
• Strong attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.
• Inspect belts, hoses, tires, brakes, batteries, lights, steering, suspension, and fluid levels; replace air, fuel, oil, and cabin filters as applicable.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the fleet management system and notify supervisor of safety concerns or repair recommendations.
• Assist mechanics with repairs as workload requires and operate shop equipment safely.

The Opportunity

Join a leading electrical contractor with over 110 years of success! Lube Technicians for our Fleet Department support all of our lines of business—and keep them running - by performing preventative maintenance service on company trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure the fleet remains safe, reliable, and compliant. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime by completing scheduled maintenance, conducting inspections, identifying repair needs, and communicating findings to the service team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) services on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.


• Change engine oil, hydraulic oil, transmission fluid, gear oil, coolant, and filters lubricate all grease points according to manufacturer specifications including booms, Inspect belts, hoses, tires, brakes, batteries, lights, steering, suspension, and fluid levels.


• Replace air, fuel, oil, and cabin filters, Hydraulic Filter, Breather filters, coolant filters if applicable.


• Perform multi-point inspections and document any deficiencies.


• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company's fleet management system.


• Notify supervisor of any safety concerns or repair recommendations.


• Keep the work area clean and organized.


• Follow all OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company safety procedures.


• Assist mechanics with repairs as workload requires.


• Operate shop equipment safely, including lifts, jacks, and fluid dispensing systems.

Work Hours

This position is for second shift with the primary hours of 3:00pm-11:0pm.

Who We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• 2 years of experience with heavy equipment and heavy - duty trucks. (Bucket Trucks, Digger Trucks, Dump Trunks, and Trailers)


• Ability to type; complete some basic data entry


• Strong attention to detail
