Job summary

Brad Manning Ford in DeKalb, IL is seeking a Lube Technician to join our service team. You will perform oil changes and routine maintenance on all makes and models, with duties expanding to brakes, tires, belts, batteries, and fluid checks as needed.

You will explain repairs clearly to service advisors and customers, provide labor estimates, and stay updated through ongoing training. We value teamwork, safety, and delivering reliable, friendly service in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of automotive experience.
• Must have a driver's license and a commercially insurable MVRI.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform oil changes and routine maintenance on all makes and models.
• Perform brake, tire, alignments, shock/strut, battery and fluids/filter replacements.
• Provide labor and time estimates for additional repairs.
• Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs to service advisors and customers.
• Inspect and test vehicles and record findings for necessary repairs.
• Carry out basic maintenance such as tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid top offs, and bulb replacements.

Requirements

• Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
• Perform regular scheduled maintenance on all makes and models.
• Provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.
• Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology.
• Inspect and test new vehicles and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
• Basic maintenance including but not limited to: Tire rotations and Tire replacement, Brake Inspection, Fluid top off, Lubrication services, Batteries, Light bulbs, etc.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of automotive experience
• Must be a team player and communicate/problem solve to achieve department goals
• Automotive diagnostics and general familiarity with vehicle operating systems desirable
• Must have a driver's license and a commercially insurable Motor Vehicle Report
• Ability to lift 50lbs
