Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
  • Valid PA Special Education Certification (PK-12 or PreK-8/PreK-4).
  • Strong knowledge of early elementary curriculum and foundational literacy/numeracy development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mandatory PA clearances prior to hire.

Job Description

The New Hope-Solebury School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Long-Term SubstituteAutistic SupportTeacher supporting the Lower Elementary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and modifying instruction to meet the foundational academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of young learners with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Position Type: Temporary / Long-Term Substitute

Expected Dates: EstimatedSeptember 2026 through TBD

Location: New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated, data-driven foundational instruction tailored to students' individual goals in both pull-out (specialized) and push-in (co-taught) elementary settings.

  • Implement student IEPs with fidelity, ensuring all early childhood accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction (SDI) are provided in compliance with state and federal laws.

  • Partner closely with general education teachers, guidance counselors, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other early intervention specialists to foster a cohesive, inclusive classroom culture.

  • Administer formal and informal assessments, collect rigorous academic and behavioral progress monitoring data, and maintain accurate records to track growth toward IEP goals.

  • Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), utilize age-appropriate de-escalation strategies, and nurture a safe, supportive classroom environment aligned with primary school development.

  • Maintain regular, professional, and proactive communication with parents, guardians, and administration regarding student growth, behavioral data, and academic progress.

  • Maintain active supervision of students during instructional and non-instructional periods (e.g., classroom transitions, recess, lunch, or arrival/dismissal) to ensure a safe learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Special Education Certification (Special Education PK-12 or PreK-8/PreK-4 depending on exact assignment).

  • Strong knowledge of early elementary curriculum, foundational literacy and numeracy development, inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior management strategies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mandatory Clearances: Current and valid PA state-mandated clearances required prior to hire.
