Job summary
Cargomatic is seeking a hands-on Transportation Operator to source carriers, negotiate rates, and price FTL/LTL opportunities across lanes. You will cover freight before it becomes a fire drill, turning quotes around fast for sales and ensuring capacity and margins stay intact.
This role reports to the Director of LTL (Marketplace) & Truckload. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in freight brokerage or carrier sales, with experience using load boards and a TMS, plus strong Excel and data fluency
Qualifications
- 2+ years in freight brokerage or carrier sales with hands-on sourcing and rate negotiation.
- Experience using load boards (DAT/Truckstop) and a TMS.
- Ability to price FTL and LTL freight with lane analysis and market rates.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to cover freight under time pressure.
- Familiarity with carrier compliance (insurance, operating authority, FMCSA safety ratings).
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Source carriers and develop contracted capacity for key lanes.
- Live on load boards, source competitive pricing, negotiate rates daily.
- Price FTL/LTL opportunities and turn quotes around quickly.
- Maintain lane discipline and protect margin on every load.
- Ensure carrier compliance and perform onboarding steps.
- Collaborate with Sales, Dispatch, and Customer Service to keep bookings moving.
