Job summary

GHR Healthcare invites applications for a Long-Term Acute Care Registered Nurse (LTAC RN) on a 13-week travel contract in Pontiac, MI. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week at an on-site facility, providing critical care and rehabilitation support to medically complex patients.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of bedside nursing experience (2+ preferred), and hold an MI-eligible RN license with active BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

Long-Term Acute Care Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Contract in Pontiac, MI

Join our healthcare team as a Long-Term Acute Care Registered Nurse (LTAC RN) providing compassionate bedside care to medically complex patients in Pontiac, Michigan. This on-site travel nursing contract offers experienced RNs the opportunity to support recovery, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning in the greater Detroit area.

• Location: Pontiac, Michigan, in the greater Detroit area
• Job Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for extension
• Nursing Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Work Arrangement: On-site
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Michigan
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience required; 2 years of bedside clinical experience highly preferred
• Long-term acute care, critical care, rehabilitation, sub-acute, or comparable complex-care experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, documentation, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work night shifts, collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, and provide compassionate care to medically complex patients

LTAC Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized plans of care within established timelines.
• Deliver safe, evidence-based bedside nursing care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and promptly communicate pertinent information to providers, charge nurses, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care updates accurately and on time.
• Participate in interdisciplinary conferences and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of patient progress and care goals.
• Support rehabilitation activities and provide patient and family education based on identified health needs.
• Initiate discharge planning at admission and educate patients and families to support a safe transition of care.
• Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and orienting staff.
• Promote patient and workplace safety, including safe patient handling, infection prevention, fall prevention, and hazard reporting.
• Prioritize care, manage time effectively, maintain unit readiness, and collaborate with the care team to achieve quality patient outcomes.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation when requested and pursue ongoing professional development.
