Job summary

Valley Metro RPTA is seeking a skilled Light Rail Vehicle maintenance technician to ensure safety, reliability and readiness of mechanical systems through preventive maintenance and on-site repairs.

The role is safety-sensitive with a drug and alcohol program; shift differential applies for 2nd and 3rd shifts. The anticipated starting pay rate ranges from $27.49 to $34.36 per hour, with final rate based on skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Qualifications

• Transit vehicle mechanical repair experience
• HVAC and wheel maintenance experience
• Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Equivalent education and experience required, education cannot substitute experience
• Background checks and medical examination required

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace LRV mechanical components above, below and throughout LRVs
• Work with HVAC systems and wheel truing equipment
• Identify and gather necessary parts, safely use and maintain tools and logs
• Rebuild and overhaul LRV parts including glass, HVAC, wheels
• Cross-train and assist other employees
• Respond to emergencies and perform onsite repairs
• Complete special projects as assigned
• Perform other duties as needed
