Job summary

Valley Metro RPTA in Phoenix, AZ, seeks an Maintenance Technician to inspect, service and stage rail vehicles, ensuring operational readiness and reliability. The role is safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol program requirements. Starting hourly pay ranges from $25.22 to $31.52, with progression based on skills, experience and certifications.

Pre-employment checks apply. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one year related inspection or maintenance experience;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus 1 year of rail vehicle inspection or maintenance experience.
• Experience in rail transit maintenance or preventative maintenance.
• Equivalent education/experience; additional education not a substitute.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, light preventive maintenance and minor repairs on rail vehicles.
• Monitor components and systems needing diagnosis or repair.
• Maintain work records, logs, parts requests and inspection reports.
• Cross-train and assist other employees.
• When trained, complete complex inspections and disassemble components for inspection.
• Move vehicles between stage yard and platforms for cleaning and inspection.
• Stock cabinets and dispose of fluids safely to ensure a safe working area.
• Perform other duties of similar nature as assigned.
